SMP735 is a spherical (ball) double-base smokeless rifle powder manufactured by St. Marks Powder (General Dynamics OTS). It is the commercial designation for the mil-spec WC844 powder and is widely regarded as functionally equivalent to Hodgdon H335/BL-C(2). Its spherical grain structure meters smoothly and consistently through powder measures and dispensers.
SMP735 was originally developed for 5.56 NATO/.223 Remington military ball ammunition and remains a top choice for that application, while also performing well in .308 Win/7.62×51 and other medium-capacity rifle cartridges. Burn rate is medium-fast, similar to H335/BL-C(2).
